Why is it important to set a contact email in HostPanel?
HostPanel is an all-in-one hosting control panel developed by Softxaa‘s in-house developer. It comes with all our managed hosting plans and aims to ensure you can manage your hosting account through a simple, easy-to-use interface without the need to pay hundreds of dollars in licensing fees.
As useful as it is, HostPanel cannot solve some of the problems associated with your project’s growth and dynamic online landscape. As your website becomes larger and more popular, for example, it’s bound to take up more space, and eventually, it may reach your account’s disk space limit. And no matter how big or famous it is, it can always catch the attention of hackers.
If your website reaches the hosting account limit, users will start getting errors and it may go down completely. If it’s under attack, the consequences can be more serious, especially if you don’t act quickly.
To ensure that these issues have the best chance of being resolved as quickly as possible, HostPanel may notify you when they occur. It needs to know how to contact you, however, which is why it’s important to set up a contact email.
Why isn’t the contact email preset by default?
You might be wondering why we don’t just use the email address you gave us during the signup process. The truth is, while some of you are probably handling your entire project yourself, many website owners hire professionals who are responsible for keeping the hosting account up and running and are better equipped to deal with these types of situations. Ideally, they will be the first to receive the notification and their email address should be set as the contact email.
Just one thing you have to remember. Some issues may also affect your email service, which is why we don’t recommend setting an email as your contact email on your hosting account.
Setting a contact email through HostPanel
Setting up a new contact email in HostPanel takes no more than a few clicks. Here are the steps:
- Log in to HostPanel’s user interface. By default, the login URL is available at https://domain.com/hostpanel, but you can also access it through the admin interface.
- Click the Contact Email button. It is available under the Settings section on the homepage.
- Enter your new contact email and confirm it. After you’ve entered your new contact email address, you’ll need to click Change Email to save the changes.
